Choong Tuck Oon (Mr Choong) currently serves as non-executive director on Boards of various financial institutions in ASEAN, including NTUC Income, RHB Bank, RHB Private Equity and OSK Indochina Securities. He also sits on the advisory boards of some specialists consulting firms in Singapore and the region.
Mr Choong was with Accenture for 23 years until his retirement in 2010 as Senior Partner in the Financial Services Asia-Pacific practice. Prior to Accenture, Mr Choong was with the national oil corporation for more than 7 years where he held different positions in various upstream and downstream functions.
Mr Choong’s specialization includes business and IT strategies, electronic commerce, mergers and acquisitions and risk management. He has led transformation initiatives for more than 20 large domestic, regional and global financial institutions across ASEAN and North Asia; including various national payments initiatives in Singapore and ASEAN. He has also experiences with Oil & Gas, Telecommunication and Utilities industries. Mr Choong has also been involved in voluntary non-governmental organisation (NGO) activities, such as launching a bank-of-banks for micro-finance institutions across Indonesia for a consortium of international aid agencies and developing a new growth strategy across eleven countries in Asia Pacific for an international conservation fund.
Mr Choong holds a Bachelor of Science (First Class) in Mathematics from University of Malaya, a Master of Science in Computer Application from the Asian Institute of Technology and Executive Diploma in Directorship from Singapore Institute of Directors and Singapore Management University.
