In 2014, Stefan joined the Johnson&Johnson Asia Pacific Innovation Center and is currently Senior Director New Ventures responsible for South-East Asia and India. This positional allows Stefan to support the therapeutic area strategies and nurture external opportunities and accelerate the development towards a product.  Building strong relationships with the external ecosystem and talent development are important success criteria.  Prior to this position, Stefan was a Manager for Pre-Clinical Research Academic Alliances at the ROCHE Translational Medicine Hub in Singapore and supported all preclinical research activities within the hub, across all therapeutic areas, including functional projects such as imaging. Furthermore, Stefan implemented the preclinical research strategy to enhance Disease Area knowledge and foster improvements of the research and development strategies.

 

Stefan was trained as an engineer in biotechnology at the University for Applied Sciences Weihenstephan (Freising, Germany). From 2000-2004 he carried out his Ph.D. research at the Max-Planck-Institute for Biochemistry (MPIB, Munich, Germany) under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Axel Ullrich.  For his work which resulted in significant patents and publications, he received the MPIB Junior Research Award 2004.

 

Stefan’s postdoctoral research was done at the Institute for Medical Biology (IMB), Singapore where he was a pioneer and leader of the Singapore OncoGenome Project.
